I have a 05 diesel and it makes a loud sound which sounds like a balloon when you are letting out the air while squeezing the mouth piece. It will do it when at full throttle when empty, and when under hard acceleration pulling the trailer. The sound seems to come from under the dash or when the drivers side window is down it sounds like it could be coming from under the hood. Has this happend to anyone, and what should I look for?

 

Check all the Boost Hoses, for leaks and make sure the clamps are tight...

Was 2005 the year with Plastic End Caps on the Inter-cooler???
If so thats most likely the problem...

 

Yes, 05 came with the plastic end caps on the IC for a short time. They were prone to cracking and that may be the issue....

 

agreed sounds like a boost leak. if not i'll tell you about an experience i had with a loud squeel/hissing noise.

 

Thanks for the help. I inspected the intercooler (plastic) and it looks good. I found all the clamps real loose. I can't believe how loose they were. I tightened them at least 5 turns each. Now all is good. I can't believe I was so unlucky to get the plastic intercooler when I bought the truck new.

 

Not unlucky, jkust a poor design on Dodge's part. They did get rid of the plastic end caps with a new designed IC...too many problems???
