hey tex, what do you mean by sloppy converter? What are your symptoms? My converter locking is the smoothest part of my tranny operation.
...another hijack sure.

By Sloppy I mean inefficient. When starting off, particularly on a hill...I notice my RPMs revving higher than what should be necessary because the "sloppy" torque converter is not putting the power to the ground. It is slipping and creating heat and inefficiency. It is not "broke". It is just not a very good Tq Converter in the first place compared to the aftermarket.

These trucks have had loose torque convertors every since they came out in 89.Wonder why? Whats the engineering reason for it? I'm sure a Chrysler engineer could explain why and it can't be just a COST thing.

Perty bold statment.... You don't have your gears listed in your sig. or if your truck is a 2wd or 4wd and if the dump trailer was loaded with the weight. I have been on several steep inclines pulling my trailer and I was at a dead stop. No problem at all with 4.10 gears and a 2wd. Weight was 10,000 lbs of trailer with 60 bales of hay weighing 60lbs. each for a total of 13,600 lbs.

Whats bold about that?>

Trailer weigh is 5500 and it has my tractor on it (kubota b2600 with loader) 3000 pounds. My truck is 4 door 4wd with 35's, intake, bd set on tow. If i pay 42k fo a truck that supposed to tow 12k tag along and 15k or so goose give or take and it wont, yeah i'm ******. This was the first time its had anything over 1500 pounds behind it and i have to put it in 4low to get up my driveway.......kinda makes me wish i had the ole duramax with the ally back.

35s and I bet 3.73 (I assume)gears.Granted the torque convertor in these leave a lot to be desired,we all know that. But those tires and gear don't help matters at all.

You must have something wrong. I have similar tire and gear size and can pull 10000# hard and at 10,000' with no programmer.
The TC slips to 2200rpm which is annoying, but it is to save the internals from the high torque.
Maybe I need to see how steep your driveway is.
