Junk in fuel filter!

I changed my fuel filter for the first time. I don't know when it was changed last. I got the truck in June of this year. Well anyway, I found this gritey stuff in the bottom of the canister. Not metal, seemed to be hard chunks of dirt? Has any one else seen this in there filters? I put in a fuel filter from geno's. What do you guy's think it is?

Sound like the fuel filter is doin' it's job.

<br><br>You probably picked up a load of fuel right after they received a new shipment and the junk on the bottom of their tanks got stirred up.

Changed my last night and put in a Fleetgaurd and had some looked like dirt in the bottom of the cansiter, dumped it out and cleaned then filler with clean fresh diesel.

With over 155,000 on mine there was only one time that the filter was really dirty. I change at 15,000. The rest of the time I can see not dirt or discoloration. Course all fuel comes from truck stops.
