steering help.....

steering help.....

hello guys,
Im having a slight steering problem....when i turn left or right on the road going at any speed, the steering wheel stays in where it is at, it doesn't return to center like it used too, it also is kind of stiff but i can turn my tires on concrete easy?.....and im having a little bump steer when i hit a curb at low speeds....any help would be great.

this is by no means a cut and dry solution because of many other factors. Theoretically adding a little or a lot of positive caster will make the wheel return and steer strait again, but only after you first replace all the worn out suspension and steering parts.

I had the truck checked out today and the guy at the alignment shop said that my steering gear was damaged.......he said that he took off the steering at the pitman arm and the steering wheel was still stiff yet he could turn the tires with easy.........?

The steering gear went out on my previous truck which was a 2005. The problems you describe are exactly the same ones I experienced with my truck. A new gear box fixed the problem.

I just remembered, the dealer also put on a new power steering pump. They said it had been damaged from the debris from the gear box. You may need both a gear box and a pump.
