Steering box noise

I have a 2003 4X4 4 door 3500. My steering gear box is making a poping noise. Is there an adjustment that I can make to this steering gear box?

Unfortunately, no. What it likely is, the outer bearing is bad (be the one for the shaft where the pitman arm bolts to) How many miles on the truck and what suspension mods have you done, if any?

No suspension Mods have been done to this truck. This gear box is the second one put on this truck, the first one was under warranty with around 50,000 miles current miles are 145,000 miles. so there are around 100,000 miles on this gear box. That bums me out, that there are no adjustments that can be made to this gear box. What suggestions do you have for a replacement gear box?

I lucked out on mine. Made over 100,000 before mine became a slight issue (doing the same as yours). It's beginning to sound like an aftermarket option as the ones the factory uses either leak or the bearing goes. Finding one may be a little iffy right now as the one I ordered from NAPA had to come in from Ohio.

Yep mines popping as well, you can feel it in the peddles and steering wheel driving me nuts. You can push up on steering rod and watch it move, not leaking yet but it only time. Got one ordered as well as steering brace to prolong wear out again. 80k on truck.

Not to hijack the thread but what does the popping sound like? Mine popped twice a few days ago but nothing since. It was a very slight pop and the wheels were straight and the pop occurred just as I was starting to turn the wheel. Looked at everything underneath and was puzzled. [/hijack]
