starter issues

hey guys, this is my first post so hello to everyone, and i love the site. i have an 03 3/4 5spd. everytime i pull our tractor (mid sized mahindra) on our goose and shut the truck off, the starter locks. i can tap it with a hammer or wrench through the wheel well and it fires right up. does anyone else have this problem, i have already put two starters on it--no different. appreciate the help guys.

You said lock, as in binding against the ring gear and engine won't turn and starter is stalled with extremelly high current draw. Or do you mean it clicks but won't engage and crank engine, also has very low current draw?? It would seem unreasonable that three starters have same internal issue. Is it possible that enough slop exists in mounting to cause locking when heated from pulling load. Try loosing starter, pushing it up and in, while retorque of bolts.

Did the fuse in the PDC blow, 50 A it seems? If so, check the small yerllow wire going to the top of the starter for chaffing against a metal bracker VERY near by it. I had a problem with that on mine, could hardly see the bare spot on the wire. I Hit the key to start it and it instantly popped the fuse because the wire was a dead short. You can see the wire by looking in from the drivers side wheel well at the starter.
