Stanadyne....which formula?

Looking for guidance in which Stanadyne formula to purchase.

I was thinking performance formula would be the one, but then after reading their specs the Lubricity Formula seems like the one since it has a "highly concentrated lubricant" that the performance does not. It also states the Lubricity Formula is specially formulated for "poor quality fuels such as winter blend, ultra-low sulphur, jet fuel, kerosene or #1 diesel."

From my reading here it seems lubricity is the number one concern and the main reason people use an additive.

Thoughts?

It may depend on what type of fuel you have in your area and the weather. The performance formula is also supposed to improve the cetane number as well as lower the pour point in cold weather; as well as improve lubricity.

I notice a little bit of smoke (black) from my truck on hard acceleration or takeoff if I don't run any additive for a couple of tanks. Adding a cetane improver pretty much eliminates any smoke.

I have about 6 - 8oz Stanadyne bottles that I mix 2/3 Performance Formula and 1/3 Lubricity Formula and fill the bottles to the rim which equates to approximately 9 to 9.5oz total (6+ oz Perf Form and 3+ oz Lub Form). 8oz Perf Form treats 30 Gal and 4oz Lub Form treats the same amount. Since my typical fill up is between 20-25 gal, that about evens up each dose. I purchase either the 16oz or 1/2 gal bottles depending where I get the best deals. I know that's double dosing but what the heck!

If you were to decide on one formula, I would let part of the choice depend on where you live. If you live in a colder climate, use the Perf Form when the temps dip. If it's warmer, go with the Lub Form. It is less than half the price per dose than the Perf Form (Based on 16oz/Case prices of $65/case for Perf Form and $55/case for Lub Form, remember the dose amounts for each).

The new ULSD is suppose to have a higher cetane rating than LSD so a cetane boost may not be needed but who knows.

The Lub Form has detergents as well so for the new ULSD, the only advantage of the Perf Form may end up being the lower pour point that it is suppose to give (but I question that given the way it reacts to low temps when in pure form in the bottle).

I was told to try the Performance Formula & if I did not notice an increase in performance and/or fuel economy, then try the Performance Formula Junior (lower cost alternative to PF. Most of the features of PF but, without the cetane or cold weather capability of PF.)

The other alternative is going with the Lubricity Formula. Cheaper & goes twice as far as PF. PF, Jr, also, goes twice as far as PF.

Diesel trucks at Las Vegas's airport run on jet fuel (very dry) with the addition of the Lubricity Formula.
