Stalling at low speed

I am having a recurring problem with my 04 quad cab 5.9 HO 4x4. It starts then I go a 100 ft and it dies. I turn everything off try starting again. Sometimes it starts up right away other time it could take a number of trys.
It used to do this once or twice a year now it is a couple of times per week. Other threads on other sites lead me to think that it is either an electrical problem with the fuel cut off switch or the lift pump. The truck has 178000 miles and I replaced the lift pump as a precaution at 95000 mi. The mechanic tells me there are no trouble codes coming up. Any ideas? BTW I am not a mechanic so please dumb it down for me. Thanks.
