Smile Source and cost of ring & pinion gears

I have 4.10s and they are way too short for the land of no speed limit autobahns. I wish to replace the 4.10s with 3.55s. Do any of you have a recommendation as to where to order these and their approximate cost?

You may want to look at a overdrive unit from www.gearvendors.com. I dont think 3.55 will give you what your looking for. This was brought up before on hear or TDR from someone across the pond and they were more than happy with the od unit.

Airgrabber,
Thanks for the tip, but I am afraid that an overdrive unit will not help my problem. The 6 speed transmission is very close geared and consequently, with only 500 rpm between gears, an overdrive will not resolve the fact that I am in 4th gear before I reach the other side of the intersection. This is probably very desirable if you have to get 10 tons moving, but I do not tow and I must be able to cruise economically at 85 just to stay with traffic. As my truck is also 4x4, the correction would apply in 4 wheel drive where the OD unit would not. Adding to this problem is that I can never get the turbo spinning before the use of 4th gear, because I cannot stay in the throttle long enough in the first 3 gears. It is very disconcerting when your truck actually pulls harder in 4th than in 1st.

Try these.

www.randysringandpinion.com
www.drivetraindirect.com

Randy's is supposed to be very good. They do mostly jeeps, but also have gears for american made trucks. Drivetrain direct is a large retailer of off road gearing supplies, lockers, axles, etc.

Your looking at ~$2000 to swap gears out. You might want to see if you can find someone to swap axles with instead.
