Sorry I got an auto

Ive had nothing but problems with this dang thing. Stocker held up better than I thought it would, but finally gave up the ghost. Then ever since I got it rebuilt, its been one thing after another. Had an aftermarket converter blow up; so I was on rebuild numero dos.

Then when I was in Vegas, it threw a P1749 code that I couldnt clear, which resulted in it cutting back on fuel. So even with SW9 loaded, I wasnt putting out much more power than stock. Then I snapped an input, and now Im back to throwing that code 2 weeks after rebuild #3, and it wont clear. Im sick of this SOB. Love the truck, but realize why the auto has a bad rep. Its nothing but a pain in my keister...

Nothing bad to say about HTS, so dont take it that way. Im just blowing steam about the auto itself. HTS took care of me on every rebuild its had. This things become a liability, I feel like itll take a dump on me at any minute and leave me sitting on the side of the road. It flat hauls if I turn it up, but if Im on SW5 or so, I still have issues. Sorry I just had to vent. I was so mad today when it threw the code Im surprised I didnt put my fist throught the dash or radio or something

Man, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. You have a full billet HTS and still have these problems? I would call them directly and talk to them about it... they should have no problem making it right.

Don't punch the truck, I have 3 dents on mine from anger, it's not worth it. Punch the bumper... ! That'll fix it...

If the stocker held up ok the problem is in the cooler or the rebuild. Call HTS they are a good company and will help you get it right. The code is for the throttle valve, try turning on the key for 30 seconds before starting this should reset the position of the motor according to the service manual
Sorry about the run of problems.

I'm running around with a stock trans with a trans go in it, smarty level 9, and it holds. 67,000 miles on the trans, I've slipped the converter a few times before I put in the trans go with the smarty on level 5. I'm thinking of just throwing in a single disk converter with a little lower stall, and calling it good.

I don't beat on my truck, I like rolling into the power when the converter is locked, and feel it push you into the seat. I can't say I like my trans, I'd much rather have a 5speed manual, but my knees like auto.

You should have bout a G56. The only thing that can go wrong with it is the clutch but Peter can fix that with his DD. Although you will not win any drag race against an auto but you will not have as much problem with it as an auto. Sorry to hear about your trouble. Come over to the manual side.

Install a Suncoast trans and never worry about it again.

When I bought the truck, I intended to also buy a manual truck to tow this one. Well, real life set in (had a kid) so that didnt happen.

Ive been thinking about trading it in. Hate to cause love the truck, but Im at my wits end with this auto.

So its either a manual Dodge or a (gulp) GMC Duramax, new bodystyle. I cant believe I just said that

Correction, once HTS gets it right; which they should. I've heard nothing but good things about Dusty and he's helped me a time or two.
Also, you guys punching your trucks, take it out on the tires. They will bounce back and for those of us who dont punch like a girl, you will still have a hand left after doing so. I've broke many a bone punching stuff and people I shouldn't have, I then learned to hit maluable/pliable stuff.

Wow, so HST screws up the rebuild and you want to go trade your truck off for a GMC? I didn't know that GMC still made trucks with a manual transmission. BTW if you buy one with an Allison auto they have problems just like the Dodge auto has.

Im not saying HTS screwed up anything. Im just irritated with the auto itself. Theyve taken care of me with every issue Ive had, and that I appreciate. I havent had time to call and see if they know why its throwing codes out of the blue. This isnt a post bashing them; its basically me wishing I had gotten a manual, because of the little quirks and malfunctions the auto has had. No, I dont think I should have snapped an input, but in just the right situation, stock power could break a billet shaft.

Ive always been a manual guy, but took a chance on the auto, and Im not sure I made the best choice. Maybe I did...

Im aware that Allisons have problems. Id blow one of those in about a day, whereas this 48re has lasted atleast 6 months...Im wanting a new truck as a tow rig and an older one to play with. And the Allison atleast has the capability to hold some power in the future if I happened to throw a good EFILive tune in it...the 68rfe isnt looking very good at this point as far as upgradeability is concerned...

Again, Im not bashing or blaming HTS, so please dont take it that way. I have nothing bad to say about them.

When you add power to the motor and hot rod the truck, you are going to break things. Why do people think that a truck is any different that a car? People have transmissions that hold up just fine at the track and road abuse (for a while). You have a poorly built trans. Face it. They just didn't get yours right. Let them fix it for you, and then see how it goes. Every shop has a broblem case now and then.
Your going to trade for an Obamabile because YOUR go fast parts are breaking? Good luck getting a warranty job on a Chevy now. I wouldn't put my money toward anything the government puts it's fingers in. It won't be long before they're gone.
So you've got all this money in the truck to make it a race car already, just have HTS fix it and then enjoy it.
I wish I could have a built trans. Really I do. I think you're right in expecting a built trans to handle some abuse. I just don't think you should jump off a cliff over it. Make them fix it right this time.
