So Im getting a new trans....

took the truck to the dealer because the trans was slipping when pulling a trailer or "getting on it" when empty. they took it for a spin and said they would order me a new trans but that the 48RE's are on national back order so they dont know when they will get one for me.

the truck only has 27000 miles on it but i drive it like i stole it.

What stinks is that the stock trans will probably cost them the same, if not more, than a modified trans that you wouldn't have to worry about anymore...

if i was paying out of pocket i would get the built one but theres no convincing the dealer that you get more for your money.

How heavy is your trailer? The reason I ask is that I've been debateing whether or not to get a XZT for my truck, but haven't yet because I worry about the trans.Did it start to slip right away?Or did it just gradually start to slip?I carry a 3000* slide in camper,& tow a 2500* jeep over mountain passes. Thanks in advance.

the trailers only a 16ft double axle utility the most ive hauled with it is a 81 MB 240D (about 4000lb) and a atv in the bed of the truck at the same time i dont know how much the trailer weighs.

the only time i really notice it slipping is when i get on it to pull into traffic, or when i punch it so it will down shift.
when it goes to shift it will rev up to 3 grand and stay for about 4 to 5 secound before shifting.
