Talking Smoke & Power

I've noticed my new 05 belches a lot more smoke upon acceleration than my 01 HO. Also my bumper gets sooted pretty well from normal driving. The power difference is remarkable between the two. My 05 milage 19+ on the hiway; @2000 miles. Should I be concerned about the over fueling or just enjoy the difference? Thanks.

Did I ask this questiion correctly; Has anyone else noticed the sooting problems with the 600's? My stock O1 does not do this even though I drive it pretty hard. Also I've read on the Forum that the 05 600's are actually 610 ft/lbs of torque; rumor or fact? Thanks.

My 04 555 would coat the corner of the bumper until I got a turn down tip.

Oh yeah. My 600 puts the soot on the bumper. But it is a diesel! And if you accelerate hard after extended periods of low to medium throttle it will puff a little smoke. Nothing really dramatic though. Normally it is very clean burning. And I love all that power!

I smoke like a freight train until the turbo catches up I've got a lil more fuel dumping in though. Stock it would lightly coat the bumper.

Cannot comment on the 04/05's since I don't have one...

But I don't understand the comments from some regarding 03 putting soot on the side/bumper....I've never seen that - do those seeing that have mod's?

It doesn't matter how I drive mine - And my driving habits go from driving like a little old lady to driving, as they say 'like I stole it'.... Fully stock & I do not use any additives either..

FYI The ONLY smoke I've ever seen is on really cold days at initial startup (a bit of white smoke)..

On my 600 I have noticed in the last 3 weeks or so a considerable amount of black soot on bumper. The inside of the exhaust tip is heavily coasted after a couple of days of cleaning. This did not happen until lately. Only noticed it after the TSB 18-037-04. Dont know if that had anything to do with it or not. Truck has a little over 10k miles now. Starting to really sound like a diesel, might as well smoke like one.
