smoke coming from blowby tube back of block
Guys,
I am noticing some smoke and a small drip of oil or 2 from the vent tube on the back of the block drivers side. I change the oil every 5,000 miles and have not had to add any oil in between oil changes yet, I am wondering if this may change this next oil change, we will see. It runs just like it always has - I notice some light smoke from tailpipe and some occasional hard start after running it that I attribute to a not-100%-injector but, hasnt caused me enough worry to change injectors - please let me know if you think this is a sign of my injectors going
My question is what is causing this and should I be worried or do something to remedy it?
Truck has 190,000 miles now and is a 'pleasure' truck - which means I drive it like 7,000 miles a year for hunting and pulling my wifes horses around (this would be the important part because if it breaks down then its my fault!)
Any info is greatly appreciated - Thanks!!

Isn't that blowby tube connected to a filter? If so, maybe you need a new filter? I recall a post some time ago discussing this, it did have a fix, some kind of bottle attached, lengthening of the tube?? I think the dealerships have them or can tell you how to fix it??
As long as your truck is not making oil, as in fuel going into crankcase, your injectors should be ok.

That tube is there for a reason. As long as you are not constantly leaving a puddle of oil under the truck you are probably OK. My truck smokes from there too so I ran a hose all the way to the rear bumper so I don't have to smell it anymore. I run Rotella and it stinks bad. I'm gonna switch to Mobil Delvac on my next oil change and see if the smell goes away but I'm keeping the hose there either way. My truck has less that 44000 miles on it too.....

Just make sure if you re-route the blowby tube, that it always "flows" down hill and has no low spots where a blockage can be made. The tube needs to be constantly free flowing otherwise you will build up crankcase pressure and blow seals.

This correct and it's very hard to do. My hose is 3/4 ID so it would take a long time to build up that much oil but I have considered piercing it in any low spots so the oil could drip out if it built up......
