I updated my Jr. with the new lower smoke program. (If you haven't ever updated your smarty, read about it in this website first, before attempting.) Anyways, my question is . . . do any of the smarty jr. programs include transmission updates?. e.g.- tsb 21-009-07. My truck seems to shift differently since I updated my jr. and re-programmed the truck.

Yep, seems better. Firmer shifts. Maybe as a result of the improved low smoke program (running #2 towing). But tranny sure feels different. Marco, Bob or Top, can one of ya'll let us smarty users if the Jr. tunes the 48re through the flash to the PCM.

You could be noticing the different torque management the Jr uses.

 

I just loaded the low (no) smoke version, ran 2400 miles pulling a 6500lb RV trailer, and did not notice a change (improvement) in the shift patern. I have not had the dealer TSB yet, and the OD/Lockup shift is terrible. O/D and lockup occur almost instantly at 50 mph under load @ part throttle, and will often create a strange "scrunch" noise from what I think is the turbo. I had trans checked and fluid is a good as new.
BTW, Smarty Jr @ Towing (70 hp) +6500lbs + a 8% grade = cars get out of my way!!!
