slight stutter

Hey wondering if anybody had some ideas here. My truck is stock except for exhaust w/ cat and a big afe intake. Now all thats been done from dodge is a flash for hard to start issues. It starts now but it stutters from time to time and runs poorly. Then the next time I start it it runs like a champ. Then back to the stuttering. Usually when it is running bad it will blow black smoke worse at wot through all gears no matter what boost i'm at and it seems to run a shade hotter. That and when I put a chip on it, it is much more pronounced to the point of I take it off cause it sounds horrible, but it did this long before the chip. Any ideas i'm about to go on vacation and want to give it to dodge but maybe I could point them in the right direction.
Thanks

How long ago was your flash update? There is a new one out for the slight stumble on acceleration.

It's been a few months since I got that flash but would the new flash for the stumble upon acc, which sounds pretty close to what I would say I have, superceed what i have? Also why would a stock truck smoke so much? My 02 rarely ever did stock and most people I see will blow a cloud under initial acceleration, but not untill they let off.

Without the actual part number from the ECM ( has to be read with a scanner ) you cant. If you have a way to read the part number from the ECM you can call a Dodge dealer with the part number and when they look it up in the parts catalog and enter it on the computer it will show a "superscedence", also know as an improvement or change to the part. Sometimes it even has a superscedence narrative that tells you what the improvement was. Thats how you know if there is an update. Otherwise you have to have it hooked up to a Chrysler computer to tell.
