"Shudder In 1st or 2nd Gear"

Any of you who have the manual tranny get a "shudder" when using 1st or 2nd Gear?.. Does not do it in all other gears... I have a 'feeling" it is the 'governor' that Dodge uses so one does not have to use the Clutch to get underway .... Also, another complaint is that when taking off from a stop, it seems that it is "painfully" slow to get the truck up to 20 to 25 mph so as to get the truck moving into traffic.. Dan

Dan, No shudder here. The shudder has been mentioned before by other folks here. I think most (but not all) of those guys have long beds. Usually when pulling a load.

Why do you think the zero throttle feature is the cause?

It might help to fill out your sig block so people know what kind of truck you've got; but mine has no problem moving into traffic - unloaded or not.

I have a slight shudder in 2nd gear after take off with clutch fully released. I noticed this on my pre delivery inspection and brought it to dealers attention. "Don't know but monitor it and see if it gets worse".

What I think mine is that the idle speed on the 325 is low and the pilot injection is a little off and until the engine comes up about 100 or 200 rpm there is some timing issues causing shudder. I also think the 325 is using a bunch of fuel at idle because of this. Just my opinion, and monitoring it for now.

Mine does it too, just off idle in 2nd gear, never noticed it in 1st. Can't really come up with a reason for it in my little pea brain, but don't spend alot of time thinkin on it either. Not like when you shut her down or anything, so I don't worry.

mine does it. 1st and 2nd gear, no load, loaded, doesn't matter. sometimes worse than others. dealer said they don't think they could get rid of it.
a buddy of mine that is a DC master tech said there is a TSB for the shuddering. it puts a spacer above the...(can't remember the name, big rubber thing that hold the center of the driveshaft in place) to move the driveshaft down a little to change the angle of the shaft at the pinion.

mine shuddered in 1st and 2nd only when loaded. I added Timbrens to keep rear from sagging and the shudder stopped. .......JIM
