Should IAT be cleaned?

Read that someone said that a dirty IAT will result in worse milage. On the 3rd gen trucks the IAT is easy to get to - it is on teh air filter housing, but does it need to be cleaned? Does it really get dirty?

I've cleaned mine 3 times in 200K miles. All 3 times it was clean as a whistle.

your boost sensor/map sensor in the intake manifold plate also contains an IAT sensor.. i think that was the one that was getting carboned up on the 2nd gens...

best way to remember sensors

2 wire sensor = temperature sensor

3 wire sensor = pressure sensor

4 wire sensor = combo sensor pressure and temperature

both. the baro sensor in the intake piping pre turbo has an iat in it, and the map/boost sensor in the intake manifold plate has an iat too. the one in the intake manifold is the important one. the one pre turbo can be outside of the piping, and everything will work ok [good if you are making your own intake setup, just needs to be connected to wiring harness]
