Shift Kit Opinion

Hey guys, I am thinking about putting a shift kit in, would this be a good I idea? The tranny is stock, so I am not sure if that will put some undue stress on the rest of the tranny/drivetrain. Will it help handle a little for power as well. I am running my diablo on performance tune.

I'd pay the extra dough and just buy a valve body from one of the big players. I've only heard of a couple people happy with the shift kit. Most are unsatisfied.

You might give some of the tranny builders a call(DTT,Goerend, etc.) It might be worth it to get a custom valve body for what you are planning to do with your truck. They would know what to do.

Torkmnstr, I would put the shift kit in! They are not to bad, I was happy with mine, then i got a Suncoast valve body with my trans and was the same as my vave body with the shift kit! You can increase line pressure yourself, which will help your frictions from slipping. Go with the shift kit! You can always get other high performance componets for your vavle body later on.

How much do valve bodies run? I am looking for something heavy duty but not extreme. I want somthing that will handle 550rwhp or so. I do little pulling, only my 19 ft ski boat.

Based on the reading and research I've done, if I were to buy one for my truck today I'd buy from Goerend Transmission. There are a few other good options also: DTT, ATS, Sun Coast, HTS, etc.
