The hardest part can be just fishing the belt around the different pulleys , then getting the tensioner unsprung , if its the same as my truck , its a 3/8s drive to go into the tensioner , but the spring is so strong that having a very long breaker bar to take tension off enough to remove the belt from alt , then let the tension go but easy , then R&R the belt on all pulleys , the alt last after moving tensioner again .

Serpentine belt routing diagram?

Have a 2005 5.9L 3500. Need a picture, have a crayon. The OE sticker is long gone.
Thanks.

On my old 01.5 it took me about 15 minutes to change it. On my 05 it took 3 hours. I made the mistake of just pulling it off like I did on my old truck and should have paid attention how it came off. Even with a diagram it took forever to get the new belt back on right.

Power Steering Pump Pulley (4)
Radiator Fan Pulley (5)
Crankshaft Pulley (6)
Automatic Tensioner (7)
A/C Compressor Pump Pulley (8)
1. A 1/2 inch square hole is provided in the automatic
belt tensioner. Attach a 1/2 inch drive-long handle

(as viewed from front) until tension has been
relieved from belt.
3. Remove belt from water pump pulley first.
4. Remove belt from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
5.9L DIESEL
The 5.9L diesel engine accessory drive system (with
a/c) consists of :
Generator Pulley (1)
Water Pump Pulley (2)
Idler Pulley (3)
Power Steering Pump Pulley (4)
Radiator Fan Pulley (5)
Crankshaft Pulley (6)
Automatic Tensioner (7)
A/C Compressor Pump Pulley (8)
CAUTION: When installing the accessory drive
belt, the belt must be routed correctly. If not,
engine may overheat due to water pump rotating
in wrong direction. Refer to or for correct engine
belt routing. The correct belt with correct length
must be used.
1. Position drive belt over all pulleys except water
pump pulley.
2. Attach a 1/2 inch ratchet to tensioner.
3. Rotate ratchet and belt tensioner clockwise. Place
belt over water pump pulley. Let tensioner rotate
back into place. Remove ratchet. Be sure belt is
properly seated on all pulleys.
