seems like turbo surge

seems like turbo surge

when i hit 30 to 35 on boost the turbo seems to surge up and down the boost gauge shows it and i can hear the whistle go up and down is this normal truck is stock except for afe stage 2 intake

I would think on stock turbo and engine that you are hearing the wastgate open and close at max boost. 30psi is rated stock turbo boost, wastegate probably starts opening a little before that, but probably fully open after 32psi if you are still making max boost. I assume to hear this up and down that you have your foot firmly planted on the floor??

yes foot is down but i do feel the slowing of acceleration and see the boost gauge bounce from roughly 35 to 20 back to 25 to 30 psi maybe its just that the waste gate opening thanks

Do you have an early 05 with the plastic intercooler? You may want to check for leaks if you do.
