Sediment/particulates In Coolant
Sediment/particulates In Coolant
Drained a couple of gallons out of a buddies 04 radiator today. Poured back in
and found sediment in the bottom of the container I was using.
This container was very clean when I started draining.
Low use on this truck, only 38K miles on an '03 but driven daily.
Is this normal ?? Sure looks like it could eat up a water pump.
Could this be silicate accumulation or just trash left over from the
manufacturing processes ??
We will be draining and flushing soon unless someone gives me a good
reason not to.
You guys might want to check your cooling system for sediment also.

Funny you should post this. Yesterday I noticed sediment at the bottom of the expansion/overflow tank. Also in the two years on my ownership the level has dropped in the tank about halfway. Having a hard time locating this Zerox G-05 around these parts. The factory coolant is supposed to be good for 5 years or 100K. But I'm too **** with this truck to go that long. I agree come spring I"ll flush and fill. Is the GM Dexcool HOAT coolant the same stuff as what's in our rigs. Only ask because it is also orange color?
Don't use Dexcool !! I don't think it mixes well with the stock stuff.
For a full drain and refill it may be OK but I really DON'T know for sure.
Don't go by color of fluid or color of bottle cap either !!
