I would not put Seafoam in your tank if you dont use the truck often it contains alcohol and will condesate water with tempreture change. Ive been doing some reasearch on this my self and have noticed that Cummins uses Alcohol based products for all the diesel engines for flushing the injection system . So if they use it I would say go for it ,I did I just wouldnt over use a alcohol based cleaner all the time .

I've used it twice just before a filter change. I followd the directions and drained the filter housing and added the can of Seafoam. Your supposed to let it idle through the system. No throttle. The CTD is smooth as glass while the SF is running through it then starts to run like normal once the diesel starts mixing with it. The truck ran incredibly smooth after that. There does not seem to be much benefit just pouring it in the tank. Too diluted.

How Long to Idle

About how long does it take for the SF to be consumed if you fill the filter housing? 5 minutes? 30 minutes? Longer?

I used SF on my an old Chevy Vortec and it worked great. The truck smoked like a chimney, though. I suspect the same will be true for the CTD?

Probably about 5-10 minutes. The filter housing is only about 16 oz. And the CTD did not smoke like the gasser while the SF was running through it.
