Satisfied Customer

I believe this is the right area to post, if not sorry.

I wanted to let everybody know I got my high idle enabled today. I know everybody knows about this and all that, but I've found one dealer that will do it, and the satisfaction I had.

I called around to a few areas and they said I had to bring my truck in and they would run diagnostics then hey would be able to tell if they could do this. I told them it was already in the ECM and that all they had to do was enable it. They said there policy was to do this. So I would end up paying around 150 bucks, yeah right. I then called another dealer and the guy put the service manager on the phone. I talked to him for a while and he said he's never heard of it, or done it but had the TSB i gave him and said bring it in and he'd see what he could do. I made an appointment at 3:30pm (same day) I show up at 1:30, got outa work early. He said your hear early, no problem, comes outside with the tool and hooks it up. He said it looks easy followed the paper and unplugged it. It showed on the tool how it worked, what you had to do, and all that, and I actually told him all of this before he read it and he was like wow, you did read up on this, so I think he was impressed. He started my truck and it worked like a charm. He said he was gonna go home and do his and his brothers, so it was cool. Tried to give him a tip for it and he wouldn't take it (even did it the secret way cause I know your not supposed to take money). He then noticed that I had gauges and said that they looked really nice, and who did the install, told him I did. He then walked to the back of the truck and said I thought you had an exhaust, I said it's a cat back and he really liked it. He asked me if I had a box on it and I said no, I don't really want to chance any warrientiee work. he just said if it had a box and came here, I wouldn't worry about it. ALL RIGHT JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR

All and all I took my truck to Balk Hill Dodge in Warkwick Rhode Island. So if any of you are around this place will do it. Just ask for the service manager Paul. I'm going to send Chrysler an e-mail cause I really do believe when people do something like this they deserve credit. Ok, I'm done praising.

High Idle

If you live in the cold regions, and it's under like 25 degree's our trucks will Idle up to around 1000 rpm to warm up faster. I believe if you have a new truck the dealer can flash the ECM and you use your cruse control buttons to raise or lower it. It's a manual set, so if it's like 30 out and your truck won't idle up, you can use the cruse buttons to raise it manualy, allows faster warm up.

Not sure what years have this, i know the +04.5's have this int he ECM already and all the dealer does is enable it. not sure what years can be reflashed. I love it, allows the truck to warm up with me not in it. It's also avalible only on the Autos. I knew I bought it for that reason

Manual High Idle is great for many things, not just cold weather. I use mine a lot. Gets it ready to drive in the morning quicker no matter what the temp. If hot and need AC while waiting/idleing works good too.

Guys, Our Cummins has serious problems with low temp idle. The truck should not idle for more than a few minutes at less than 1100 rpm. The high idle manual adjust allows you to set the idle high enough to no cause injector fouling....its good for your truck....so getter done. ks

Thanks for the info on the high idle. Guess I don't need it. Never idle my tuck for more than a miniute to warm up. Doesn't get that cold around here, & I have a six shooter.
