Run-away engine

I have been expirencing a rough idle with a slight surge when letting off the throttle pedal. But now sometimes when i let off the pedal it keeps fueling and i have to stand on the brakes. If i rev the motor in neutral (around 1,500 rpm) and let off, it will keep revving and gain rpm to 2,500rpm it will not come back down unless i turn the engine off. I have replaced the FCA and the fuel rail (with all sensors and pressure limit valve). Could it be the throttle position sensor? Or has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds to me like an injector is hanging open do you get any smoke black or white. Also if you fill out your signature so we know what you have may help with diagnosis.

It does have more smoke than it used to on the stock setting when i apply WOT. No smoke at idle or start-up. I also noticed a slight vibration and/or miss around 1,800rpm. Sorry about the sig. My truck is a 2006 ram ,auto Banks six gun/pda afe intake and a mbrp exhaust. No CEL is on currently, but i do get a p0148 on occasion.

if i'm not mistaken the p0148 is fuel rail pressure too high.......if not it is boost pressure too high for too long. i had two codes on the '03 about a month ago and p0148 was one of them. i'm pretty sure it is fuel rail pressure too high...

I have the same problem, lots of black diesel smoke out the pipe. Dealer couldnt figure out the problem, they wanted $16,000 to tear apart the entire fuel system and check it out. Im replacing the injectors with some 50HP+ ones, and a 2 micron filter system, crossing my fingers.

Fuel delivery check sum sounds like an ECU issue. Do you have some sort of downloader on your truck? You may want to reflash back to stock and see if the problem persists.

Pull that Banks Six Gun off completely and see if it still does it.

I've had the six gun taken completly out of the truck for the last 2 days and have the exact same symptoms. I was thinking about dynomite's new tips(the 50hp ones). But i wonder if replacing the whole injector is needed, if i have a bad one or two.

How long is the waiting period to get them sent out and returned? Do they have a exchange program.
