I am not saying it is not good stuff. Im sure it is.

But just because you pay more for something doesn't make it necessarily better, imo.

Excellent oil. Use it in our 01 mustang, used it in our 03 Powerstroke, engine ran smoother, cold starts very good. A little bit better fuel miledge in Powerstroke. PSD was very oil sensitive, RP made a real differance.

With Oil Guard bypass filter and UOA 15k. Could have went more if not for injector leak.

Thank you sir, I need some fender flares or the protective film as I am getting some rock chips with the wide tires.

Also, this is an excellent site. I am new to the Cummins and I have learned alot from everyone, Thanks all.

Yeah... It is good stuff... But for your money I would use Schaeffer... Just as good and cost much less.

Royal Purple has had a bad name in the oil circles because of its' lack of shear stability and poor TBN retention. I can point to several UOA's of Royal Purple on Bob is the Oil Guy in which Royal Purple sheared badly and depleted its' additive package with not a lot of miles.

There are MUCH better oils out there for less IMO. The UOA's speak for themselves on an oils performance.

Any oil after a couple thousand miles will make a 6.0 PSD run smooth because the 6.0 PSD shears the holy hades out of oil (oil sheared down a grade means less friction and easier pumpability because the molecules are now smaller). There is only one oil out there that can withstand the HEUI setup of the 6.0 PSD and that's Red Line. The polyol ester base stock and overall formulation of Red Line is as tough as a tank. Schaeffer's is the only other oil that I've seen perform well (shear stability) in a 6.0 PSD.....it isn't as shear stable as Red Line, but it does stay a borderline 40/30 weight which says a lot for it IMO while withstanding the oil torturing 6.0 PSD.

Which Schaeffer oil... 7000 or 9000? I'm using 7000. My rep didn't think the 9000 was very much better. Craig

The 7000 uses a Group II & Group IV base stock, while the 9000 uses a Group III & Group IV base stock. Both oils are excellent, but the 9000 has better cold flow properties.

I've been using Royal Purple for about 13,000 miles. The truck seems to run slightly quieter and gets a little better mileage.

I ordered it in a 5 gallon jug from these guys.
