ATF= automatic transmission fluid so no it wont work! Look in owners manual and it will give u oil and weight to use than find RP to use.Ive used RP in my dif's and love it,its a good fluid!

The G56 calls for ATF, or are you saying that maybe its not ATF+4?

It MUST be +4,not sure if the RP Max falls under that classification.
First time I learned of our manual tranny using ATF I didn't believe it.

Mopar ATF+4 is $4.42/qt. @ Walmart. I switched my factory fill out with Amsoil Universal ATF. Couldn't tell the difference.

I switched to the Royal Purple this summer, seems to shift smoother. But no it's not the recommended fluid. It has a slightly higher viscosity.

Maybe i should ask what you guys recommend to change to? I have castrol full syntec in now, but smell ATF bad so i think it might be breakin down or? I want to change over to something better, what do you guys think i should run?

I run Mobil 1 75-90 in a 4X4 PU with a Muncie Getrag, im suppose to run this special grey crap from GM.

I got 343K miles out of the first Xmission on the Mobil 1 75-90. The trans shifts really good and runs smooth but shifiing in reverse will clunk pretty bad unless I shift into first gear first then all is well.

The G56 is such a good quality and good shifting trans I wouldn't risk puting the wrong stuff in.

My plan is to extend the service life of the G56 by running Amsoil Mopar+4 and change it often. I haven't decided at what change interval yet but it will be ahead of the factory schedule and based on how much I pushed it.

I'm running Amsoil ATF in mine.
Noticed improved shift smoothness right away and after 10000 miles on it , so far, so good.
