Rollin on 37"s w/o a lift
Lol
I don't even have enough miles on my truck to provide any real documented results. The results I based that statement on were hand calculated for a couple tanks. There is one thing for sure though, I know the difference between my mileage going up and down...and it definitely went down the day I had these tires installed.

I must have a magic truck also!
Think about it this way, putting 37's on an a truck with 4:10's is almost like changing the gears to 3:73's. With the 37's at 70mph I'm taching 300 rpm's lower then with stock size tires. Less RPM's = better mileage

Sorry I wasn't clear I thought that everyone here agreed that going with a wider and taller tire killed your MPG's, especially with an AUTO. Seems like what has already been said here about the manuals might be true that the taller tire helps a little.
Believe me I wish a taller tire would help the auto on the highway I spend most of my driving at 70-75 and I would love it if a 35" would give me 1-2 more MPG's but from all the posts have read on here that just doesn't seem to be the case. I am happy for you though.
BTW XLR8R, truck looks good and nice to see you made it work for your situation. Seems like sometimes we get in a rut of what is the best setup when in reality we all have different circumstances if your not rock crawling then your setup may work really well.
D. Wiggs, personaly I think your setup should yield the best results in the MPG department. Your tires are much taller than stock but not much wider giving a high powered truck like yours the proper gearing.
I wish there were more tall/narrow options for SRW trucks.
Yes, I definitely have much less rolling resistance than a 13.5 or 15.5" wide tire! I will be curious to see what the 295s do.
Thanks!
Your truck actually gave me the initial ray of inspiration to attempt 37"s w/o a lift...
I don't remember which wheels they are - might be American Racing, but I know they had a bit more backspacing than the OEMs. I'm thinking of buying another set of alloys with more backspacing for the 37"s, and running the current alloys on my '98... I still have the original alloys and want to run the "slicks" on either truck when needed, so I could use another set of wheels anyhow.
It drives great on the highway; I just had to get used to the increased responsiveness of the steering wheel (and of course the ability to go 120mph).
