I started to have problems with mt trans yesterday. I have a 47re dtt. I started getting a p0700 code last friday. It would not go into overdrive.I cleader it with my downloader and let it sit and it drove fine. While driving up the hwy to go home all was well. I down shifted from over drive and then down into 2nd. Was driving fine, then all the sudden the truck slowed like I had stomped on the brakes and the trans made a loud squeal sound. I instantly shifted back into drive and the truck drove fine. But the problem is now when I put it into reverse and give it a little gas the truck shutters really bad. Please tell me I don't have to have it rebuilt again.

Sounds like a band hung up on a drum? When is the last time you adjusted the bands?

 

Never have yet. Only have about 25k on the trans. It goes back fine when little gas applied, but if you give it more it shutters. it didn't start slowly, just all at once.

 

Sounds like the forward clutches may have stuck together. Not typically something that fixes itself.

 

Why would it still drive perfect foward, but not reverse.
