repair issues on 03 & up vs 98 to 02?

I have had issues with my injection pump, radiator fan clutch, nv4500 5spd, & front wheel bearings. Are there any common repairs on the 03 to 06 trucks. I'm planning to shop for one soon & want to know what to look for. Thanks in advance.

After about 04 I think there was an updated power steering hose that provides pressure to the brake booster. The newer hose has a weight and metal crimp in it that cures a buzz or vibration in pedals or steering wheel at 2000 RPM.

There were a few theads about door seals. 03's had a stamped steel alternator bracket that was subject to cracking along the top.

A few people, especially running pressure boxes, have had injectors leak, which on the CR motors will generally leak fuel into the valve cover. In short order the fuel/oil mixture would spew out of the crankcase vent tube...

I don't think there were any serious issues. Look at all the normal stuff (runs and drives well, all the suspension and U joints tight, that kind of stuff).

Maybe someone else will chime in with other ideas.

I would say to expect the same intervals on wheel bearings and u-joints, but not near as many injection pump problems. Problems to me, seem fewer and cheaper on the 3rd gens. Thats what I bought when I started shopping looking for a 2nd gen. I'm sure there will be some disagree, but it's my .02 !

After replacing 2 vp44 pumps & 3 nv4500 tranny's, I won't mind dealing with minor stuff. I'd love to keep my 01 & try to get 1,000,000 on the motor(I know it will) but fixing everything else is costing a fortune!

think most isses with the trucks would be the filter mounted lift pump on a modded truck. They don't last to long. Other than that injectors and trans. Mainly just try to find out prior life of truck from previous owner. If it is all stock shouldn't have to many issues just normal upkeep.

The lift pumps are a common failure on 03-04.5 trucks. Walbro or FASS can take care of that issue pretty quick.

Early 05 trucks had plastic intercoolers.
