Removing the stock fuel filter canister...

Just a crazy idea I was thinking of replacing the stock fuel filter drop in canister with a spin on fuel filter head...something like this:

I got my fass down by the tank so other then fabing up a bracket would I have any problems with adding this in place of my stock canister??

You'll lose the fuel heater, water in fuel sensor and, not a lot of room to spin that on or off. I made a bracket to mount an additional filter to the intake horn. 2 bolts and I can have it off/loose to change the filter. here's a link to the post with pics. Fleetguard does make a filter that has the WIF sensor in the bottom that you could plug the factory connector into, but it is only 10 micron. A lot of the aftermarket filters that drop into the factory canister are 7 micron or 10 mic from the factory. Seems kind of counter productive.

Keep the stock filter and run the cat filter along with it. You get to keep all the features of the stock housing and can build a staged filtration system. You can run everything through the stock canister first then to the 2u filter. That way the stock filter can catch everything larger than 5, 7 or 10 micron depending on what filter you use and then let the 2u filter deal with everything smaller than that.

suppose there would be any fuel flow problems?

That is how mine is set up and there are no fuel concerns with the Walbro pump. Can't say if that would be the case for all aftermarket or stock pumps, but the Walbro keeps up just fine.
