Reflashed, this is weird!
Wife went and got truck reflashed this AM at dealership, and got high idle enabled. I had written out a letter explaining exactly what I wanted done, the TSB #s, etc. High idle is now enabled, pretty neat deal! Weird part is that I am looking over invoice (nervous they messed it up) and see:
08194992 Powertrain Control module Reprogram--
TSB 18-34-97
1894WAR40
FC: FM Part #: COunt:
Claim Type: W
Auth Code:
NOT 18-037-04! [**EDITED***] They did give me the sheets outlining the proper tsb and how to perform it, etc, and a glance under the hood shows a sticker with 18-037-04 written on it. But of course now it has me all wondering if they even did this right since it has a TSB # on the invoice that refers to "Spark knock under moderate acceleration in Dodge Dakota!"
Even better, the tech at the dealer thought my rough idle (it's pretty rough) and huge cloud of white smoke after sitting for more than 12-18 hours is probably a leaking injector that may bear replacing if it doesn't go away after flash. I am pretty sure it is a leaker...Great--Dealer working the hardware on me beloved!
They didn't say anything about my Air Raid MIT. I did stick a stock air filter back in though. Beware: Air Filters at Napa for this truck are 54 bucks Luckily I had the original in my Air Raid box still in the garage!

Well I went and drove the truck on a couple of test runs, and the motor is clearly smoother with less ticking/clatter like I was experiencing before. More electric feeling. Maybe I was dreaming but I could have sworn my drone at 2100 to 2200 RPMs was reduced as well.
I reset overhead, drove 5 miles one way with cruise on 75 mph and after 5 miles checked overhead and it read 20.8 mpg. Turned around to come back, reset overhead and cruise to 55, went same 5 miles back and checked overhead at 21.9 mpg. At 75 this is ~5 mpg better than identical preflash tests. At 55 mph I gained ~4 mpg relative to preflash tests. I don't expect it to be exactly accurate but if it is anywhere close then I am sure glad I had it done.

I don't know where the error transposing the TSB# comes in to play...but the invoice they printed off for me had the same wrong TSB#. Must be their computers.
Just fueled up for milage check...O/H ind 20.7mpg, compared to 17.8 before.
Still getting the P0630 error code.

P0630 Vin not programmed in ECM. Have no idea what the consequences of this might be. Was told to drive it around for a few days, and see if it goes away. Comes up with the 3 cycle key routine.

Me too, being the TSB says corrected accuracy, well it gwas fine before and is off now haha but the new off readings are 21 20 actual is mid 17s. but thats at 65-70. The 99 does this too. I want to play with that again and see how far off that is. now how to get it out of the mothers hands for that long. Id give her the 04. but she smokes, if she smokeks in my truck shes a dead one

i am starting to think the numbers on the overhead magic box are DC igiving us an illusion to look at and be brain washed....
Not the case for me. Only time and thousands of miles will tell....but for the first two tanks the MPG was quite a bit higher than before.
