Is red dye fuel bad?
Its the same exact fuel no diff, My buddy works for a refinery, road fuel in two diff tanks, and one tank gets the red and one doesnt. So farm fuel is the same, if you run the red make sure you add the lub cuz its as dry as the green
our truck was not registered for years 95 12 valve and all it saw was red fuel.....never a problem now its registered with farm plates so we have to run road fuel....only difference is exhaust smell... and the red was higher sulfur but this was all before ULSD
I believe the off road or red dyed fuel is now ULS as well. I don't think they refine anything but. That what my fuel salesman says. I think construction equipment will be comming out with ULS engines now, as thats what is in everything else.
It is illeagal to run red dyed fuel in trucks that drive on the road, as it is not taxed.
Furthur, we do not discuss things that are illeagal on the DTR... However, if you are talking about an off road farm truck, that is not used on public roads... then you are good.
Make sure that this is not a discussion about running this on the road.

This includes pickups and Semi Trucks with farm tags as well.
I have heard that the 6.7's (I have good friend who is Dodge Salesperson at the local dealer) are having a hard time with coloured fuel as apparently coloured fuel up here is not Low Sulphur.
Actually it is perfectly legal to run marked fuel in farm trucks here, even on the highway, so long as you have an appropriate farm tag and are on Farm Business.

From IRS Pub 225:
Fuel not used for farming. You do not use fuel on a farm for farming purposes when you use it in any of the following ways.
* Off the farm, such as on the highway or in noncommercial aviation, even if the fuel is used in transporting livestock, feed, crops, or equipment.
* For personal use, such as mowing the lawn.
* In processing, packaging, freezing, or canning operations.
* In processing crude gum into gum spirits of turpentine or gum resin or in processing maple sap into maple syrup or maple sugar.
Also, not all states have such a thing as farm tags.
