Ok, here's a pic of the sticker in my glove box. Just took it. You can see what truck I have in my mods. No it isn't a special order option. It is standard in all CTD's.

It was an option in 03' i believe. Now it is standard. Dodge site is wrong. ALL 06' with a CTD have an 11.5. ONLY the SO or CA trucks have 10.5.

No way the website is wrong, come on this is DC. Oh wait, what am I saying. I went round and round with them on the towing capacity of the 2500 mega as their site said it had a max tow capacity of 7550. After a few weeks and several emails they finally agreed with me that the site was wrong and fixed it. They sent me a crappy keychain for my troubles and a little hand written note apologizing. To be sure about the axle, where would you measure to verify?

Says 10/03 on the door, but that's when I bought it so that can't be right.

Thanks for all the replies.
Where can I measure it without taking the cover?

Thanks again.

This shouldn't be necessary just look in your glovebox at the build tag.

But if you insist, just measure approximately from top to bottom in the center of the differential cover, not measuring the outer flange of the differential cover where it bolts on.

The ring gear is about 11.4" in diameter and fits entirely inside of the differential housing with a small amount of clearance on the top and bottom of the housing so if the distance is well more than 11.4" then it is for sure an AAM1150. Not exactly a scientific experiment here.

Look on the tag on the driver's side of the motor. The build date is towards the front.

Since 05 most trucks don't come with the glove box tag anymore, don't know why. I have friends with 2 05's and 1 06 and none have glove box tags.

Sure it could, especially if you bought it late October. But, it could have also been built the last week of Sept, they were out of Sept tags, and slapped an October tag on it also. Stranger things have come out of the factory

I belong to a Mopar website, and a guy on there is the original owner of a 69 Charger I believe it is. Anyways, after all of these years, he decided to do a restoration on the car. Low and behold, guess what he found behind the drivers side kick panel (interior panel down by your left foot, drivers side)??????? An empty beer can!!!!!!! Must have been a friday car, guy putting the trim together was not waiting for quitting time to start drinking beer, finished it up, boss man probaly coming, and hid the empty beer can in his car!!!!

So, a wrong build date tag, I could believe

I have a 2003 SO with a CA engine and it has the 11.5in axle. There doesn't seem to be any rule, gotta look to see what you have if you don't know.

I was happy to just get a plain diesel with a stick, and didn't fret over axles and such. When a friend looked at the truck the first thing that he did was look at axles starting up front, and he commented 'my God', I asked what was wrong, and he said that the front axle was as big as his rear axles. I helped him find a one ton a few months later :^)

Yours has an 11.5-inch because of the 5-speed. The only models to get 10.5-inch rear axles were the '03-'04 standard output 2500's with automatics. Every other Ram diesel from '03 up has the 11.5".
