05 does come off without pulling the hub. Cut off the retaining clips if present on wheel studs. Spray with WD40 around hub and use hammer and block of wood to knock rotor off. If badly rusted on may need to soak a while. Make sure your parking brake is released if removing rear rotor.

In theory, once the Tinnerman nuts are removed, it will just slide off the studs. In reality, it can be much more difficult than that. It tok me a couple of days to get mine off.

Create a 1:1 mixture of auto trans fluid and acetone - excellent penetrating oil. Squirt it gently into the holes in the disc around the studs, so it gets between the rotor and the axle flange.

Try hitting it with a big rubber mallet.

with both wheels in the air, put a couple of lug nuts on to about 1-2mm from contacting the rotor hat. Put it in drive, and get it up to about 20-25mph. Slam on the brakes. You may have to do that a few times. (follow appropriate safety precautions).

If that doesn't work, put it back together, and try again in a day or two. Sometimes it takes that long for the penetrating oil to work well.

The other question is, what happened to the rotor? Why did it go bad?

If you are not using the rotor again lay into it with a 5lb hammer on one side where the disc contacts the rotor. It will come off!! But clean the seating area of rust and crud before installing the new one.

passenger side, outside pad was non existant, at 50,000 miles..i hever heard the wear bars, untill it started to grind...i got the rotor off after 45 minutes, sprayed it, beat it, worked it, sprayed it, swore , pulled, about to give up when it let loose. the parking brake didn't give me issues, just all the rust on the back side
