Question about installation of MBRP Cool Dual Exhaust.
Question about installation of MBRP Cool Dual Exhaust.
Got the money rounded up to purchase the MBRP T409 Dual exhaust and was curious what all would be involved in the installation.
I pretty much have all the tools needed at my disposal but I do not have access to a lift. Is it pretty much an unbolt / bolt on application? Or is there cutting involved?
I consider myself mechanically inclined but when it comes to this truck I get a little nervous tinkering with it. (Thus the reason it is still stock)
Any help or advice is appreciated!!

You don't need a hoist to do exhaust on these trucks. By far, removing the old exhaust is the bigger PITA than installing the new stuff. If you don't have torches, a sawzall will do the trick for removal of stubborn stock exhaust. I installed cool duals on my truck in a couple of hours without rushing by myself.
I figured some of the hardware on the old exhaust would be difficult to remove. I'll have a torch and sawzall if needed. I did a search for "MBRP" and now I'm having second thoughts about getting the T409 series after hearing about possible rust problems. If performance and sound is not difference I am looking at just going with the Aluminized version now. I'll just take that extra money and put it in the "Get New Wheels" funds.
Thanks for the info sir!

IF rust becomes a problem??? 409 WILL rust. It leaves a nice layer of brown all over the tubing after a couple of months and looks like crap. Aluminized looks better over time for sure....it may not last quite as long but you would be splitting hairs. 304 is the best of both worlds but is little pricey so go for the aluminized if you can't justify the cost.

I'll clarify. Doesnt hurt to ask questions. I wouldnt get the stainless, get the aluminzed and spray it with this stuff:

Wipe it down with some prep wipes and do three lights coats of the stuff. You can leave the tips chrome or aluminzed or painted whatever you like and paint the rest of the pipe.

Thank you very much for the information Haloman.
I see you are from the Henderson, KY area. By chance would you be familiar with any of the Ambrose's from that region? I used to race with a father and his two sons. (Ronnie, Lynn, and Colin). They own a trucking company down there also.

I raced Three Quarter Midgets at the Rushville fairgrounds numerous times from 1993 to 1997. People in that town go nuts when we would come to town.
