Putting dually rear axle on 2500
Putting dually rear axle on 2500
Is it possible to put a 3500 dually axle under a 2007 5.9l, 240K mi, 2WD, automatic? If so what else has to be swapped out/ modified? Engine is completely stock. Should I install a tuner if this is possible?
I'm wanting to upgrade to a 5th wheel toyhauler that will probably weigh 14k loaded. I currently pull a 5th wheel that might weigh 11.5k loaded. It already has overload springs and airbags.
Any suggestions/ info would be great. Thanks

I'm sure it's possible, but is it feasible?...Your truck will still be rated for load and tow capacities as a 2500 even if you put a HEMTT axle under it...I would first check with your state's DOT as to whether you will be pulling legal weight for your ride...That's my only input...

Short answer... YES
It is a pretty straight forward swap. I know two people that swapped axle and bed. One had dually but wanted single rear and the other had single and wanted dually. So they swapped axles and beds all in one day.

The only difference between the 2500 and 3500 srw is the OL spring. I have a 3500 srw and pulled a big 5er a lot.. I have never been pulled over by the weight police for an inspection, neither have any of my friends.
