Purolator PureONE

My maintainance shop wants to install Purolator PureONE oil and fuel filters. He claims they are a better filter than the standard Fleetguard I've been using.

I did a search but can't find any definitive answers; are these filters a good choice?

I would NOT use one on a Cummins engine as a matter of fact I have half a dozen of them sitting on a shelf that will likely become targets one day

On Edit; I use them on my gassers, they are fine for that application.

according to bobistheoilguy.com the pure ones are not what they use to be. quality has been cheapened-like many other things!

Is there any way to find out if these filters are approved by Dodge/Cummins for use on our trucks?

From what I read on other threads the only filter that out-performs the Fleetguard Stratopore (15 micron vs. 25) is the Donaldson ELF7349 (the side of the can says "CUMMINS 4B & 6B SERIES...") - this is what Amsoil uses.

IMHO, it's a tie for the third spot on the podium - Baldwin/NAPA/Wix - and everything else would be for shorter interval oil-changes.

What's the date on that list?

I heard they were well constructed too, that's why I've been using
them, as far as I knew they were all metal insides, no plastic valves . Next time I buy one , I'll and see if anything has changed. I have 50K on my truck now using their fuel filters too 10micron, and still on original injectors.

Oil filters

Hate too see the Mobil 1 filter (M1-403) and the K&N HP-4003 filters didn't make the list. I have used the Mobil 1 before with no ill effects. It was easy to find at the nearby autozone, before my Geno's order came in.
The Mobil 1 is a very well built filter in my opinion. I have another one on the shelf. Only thing is that its not white so I can't write the date I install it on the truck, in the filter with a sharpie.
The Fleetguard and K&N are white.

The Pure One oil filters I saw say on the box they are rated at 40 micron and IIRC the Fleetguards are rated at 25 micron, the Amsoil/Donaldson are 15 micron. The Amsoil/Donaldson have the best rating of any oil filter on the market and offer us the best protection for your engine. The only oil filters I would use on my engine are Fleetguard, Amsoil/Donaldson, AC Delco, Mopar and MotorCraft.
