Problems with battery replacements
Problems with battery replacements
As you can see by my signature, I live in Germany. I have not run into parts availability problems until now and I bought the truck new. I have absolutely no complaints about the original batteries. They have been terrific, but at 10 yrs. of age, they no longer have the capacity to withstand cool temperatures and need replacement. The problem is that these batteries are not a standard European size at 290mm long, 190mm wide, 190mm tall and the positive poll on the left facing the battery. I would really like replacing these with OEM replacements part number 560284-52AA not just because of the superior performance, but size. Only this battery fits the box and heat blanket. Yes, I can modify the box to fit available batteries, but I would have to use slightly smaller ones and the replacement batteries have less than the 750 CCA of the original and the reserve ratings are also less.
So I guess I'm looking for a stateside source that with ship to Germany or any other solution that fits this problem.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Sears Diehard Platinum are rebadged batteries from Odyssey. They have several distributors in Germany. Give them a try.

Are you Active Duty?
If so, maybe go with whatever you can get thru the Exchange system until you get back?.
Since you are looking at batteries, have you checked to see it you can get any of the new lithium batteries?
I saw one or the weekend truck shows where they used one to replace the double battery set up in a gen2.
They are also very light weight.

In Germany at least, the Exchange has terminated the program of ordering spares, including batteries. I have had no choice but to replace the battery set with Mopar replacements smaller than the originals. Even the European Dodge dealers do not carry the original size, nor were they willing to order it either. The batteries cost me 317 Euros. The straight exchange rate is $1.35 = 1 Euro or $427.95 for the pair!
