Problems after towing concrete on trailer!

Yesterday I hauled 5 pallets and some change of concrete out to my brothers place 32 miles from my house. Truck didn't move when I released the clutch and started smoking through the steering column. When I finally got it moving the CEL came on but there's no codes. To make matters worse trailer brakes on the 32' GN gave out right before I pulled up to his driveway and I downshifted but still smoked the brakes. Today when I started the truck it was running good and all of a sudden it shutoff. Wouldn't start so we pushed it and finally we got her running again for about 15min then it shutoff again and won't start at all now.

Checked all fuses-
looked around for shorts but couldn't find any
clutch should be good even if not it would push start
egt's climbed up to 1450ish

Any help will be appreciated

Wow... I can't help you, but I think smoking through the steering column would be considered normal.

Sounds like you gave it a good workout! Hope someone can chime in here and at least give you something to look for....

Off the cluth and no movement then smoke???? Sound like the clutch smoked but it would cause the truck to die and as long as the pressure plate didn't break you could still roll start it. Have you checked the oil level?

Oil level is good, truck didn't die when the clutch was released. Could this be a bad thing? Dealer won't touch it without taking my arm. Iam gona pull it into the shop somehow and see if I can't find something. Cranks just fine, just won't start, we pulled it around to see if we can start it and when I release the clutch now it puts out a loud crunch sound but not every time. Were going to check an see if it's getting fuel, then were gona call John if we can't find a problem.

Why will the dealer not do anything? Didn't your truck come with a lifetime power train?

He has lots of drive train mods and that would be the most likely reason for not working on it.

Sounds like new clutch time for sure but what did the smoke smell like?? Like hot brakes or electrical?

Any idea of about how much weight might have been on it? My FIL wanted to try to get about 5+ pallets of bricks with his 1/2 ton about 4 hours away. I finally convinced him by the time he filled it up with gas 4 times, then replaced all springs, shocks, brakes, and transmission, buying brick locally and have them delivered would be a whole lot cheaper.

Dealer won't work on it cause of some mods, no warranty. first time clutch has ever done that it has 48233miles on it. The smell that came was that of burnt plastic several seconds later came the strong smell of clutch. The pallets have 42 bags on them at 80lbs and there was 10 more bags aside from the five pallets. 17,600lbs

Clutch only has a 12,000 mile warranty.

I wonder if your main problem is in the DM flywheel. I think you need to pull the transmission.

That's what the mechanic said, he's had several heavy haulers break them. He's going to tear it open in the morning. He said I probably broke it but not all the way until I got back home and tried to start it. I guess well see what the deal is.

The pallets I bought a Lowe's had 35 (three of them), I carried one pallet per time in my bed. All were shrink wrapped from the factory, but maybe that's just the way Lowe's orders them.
