Possible Fuel Leak
Possible Fuel Leak
I have a 2006 3500 ram with about 47,000 miles and I think i'm developing a fuel leak. I have rough starts on colder mornings (20-30*). My biggest concern is the substance on the driveway every morning and all my levels are fine so I assume its diesel fuel. It seems to be leaking out of some type of pump or something like that. A line goes into this thing from the bottom of the fuel filter and then it leaves and goes into the high pressure rail. Does anyone know what this is? What it cost? or experienced a leak in this area? any help would be great thanks. Whatever this thing is the bottom of it is all wet its located right next to the power steering resivor, it's definitly not power steering fluid leaking though.
Sounds like you have a leak at the banjo-bolt on the bottom of your fuel filter. You could try snugging it a hair. And if that doesn't do it maybe you could get a new washer? I think it was either one of those half rubber nad metal washers or its a copper crush type? Or I could be all wrong
It's gotta be a diesel leak though which would make sense with your hard start. Some or all of the diesel is draining out of your fuel filter canister and its having to refill.

Yeap, it is a common issue. Sounds like your CP3 (high pressure fuel pump) is leaking. It will need to be replaced and should be under the engine warranty. Do a search on CP3 lots of reading. It is weaping from a rubber o-ring where the halves come together....
