Angry poor quality control fleetguard air filter

Just opened a fleet guard air filter part number AF26016 that I bought a year ago. Discovered that the form pre filter was not glued in its proper position. Instead of being even all the way around it was off by appox. an inch, This means thats for an inch of the filter the air is not being filtered as it should be. Fleet guard says that there is no problem and to use it as is. This does not seem right to me but I would like some opinons from some of you. Do I eat it or use it. Thanks

Dodge changed theirs up a while ago on the 2nd gen trucks and eliminated the foam part altogether, and I think Fleetguard did the same on that application. I assume the filtration still meets specs, and the flow has proven to be a lot better now too. Not sure how valuable the foam part is, besides helping to keep moisture from destroying the paper element. Having said that, if I bought a filter with the foam, I'd hate the fact that there was a flaw.

All the foam does is help stop bugs, leaves and other bigger junk from getting into the pleats of the filter and blocking it up, in no way will it hurt you if you use it with one side being of by an inch. BTW I have used a filter like that before without any problems on my 06.

good clean air is the life blood of these old diesel engines.

I use the 4" mopar air filter, seems to work well with no problems.

autozone sells a 4" air filter that looks just like the mopar air filter, may be made by the same company.

high dollar air systems let more air in, but may let more dirt in.
