poor mans theft deterent

just throwing this out to see if it is feasible. i had an old truck that i placed a switch in the cigarette lighter. the switch was wired to the electrical system and would ground it out if i pushed it in. kept anyone from starting the truck. i was wondering if i could do a similar rig on the one i have in my sig.? maybe tapping into one of the lift pump wires to interupt electrical flow to it? or is the system so sensitive that the small amount of resistance added by increasing the wire's run cause issues that wouldn't make it worthwhile? just a thought...and now let the flames begin

Just remove the plug next to the tailgate lock every time you get out of the truck.

Its the gray plug with a key ring on the end called the power plug, next to where you plug in the diagnostic machine. Its on the driverside below the steering wheel next to parking brake release.

Hmm, I never seen a plug with a key ring on it under my dash. Are you talking about this anti theft device: Ravelco.com

Mine came from the factory like this, right next to your parking brake release. The end of the plug is hailf circle.

Did you buy your truck new? or pre owned? I've yet to see a truck come with one. A pic would help too, so we know what to look for.

that looks like something that some of the dealerships put on their cars to prevent it from being stolen while at their lot.

Well that's what I was wondering, I know some dealers install lifts, ect before there sold, so to say it was factory equipment is a bit odd. Yes it came like that, but not a factory option. My guess is they installed it like TAWS said. Check the build sheet see what it says, should list everything that came with that truck, you might see somewhere, an aux alarm

Someone should send that to Dodge, see what they have to say. I know I have a 05, but nothing in my Service manual shows anything like that

Let me correct myself, it came from the dealership like that. Don't know if it was factory or not.
