Plastic Rocker Cover
Plastic Rocker Cover
Going to install some injectors sometime.. truck is a weekend warrior so I am not in a hurry. I think like most people's older trucks, the cover has lost it's paint and gotten kind of old looking. It is cold in Indiana and I am bored, so I tried painting it.
First, bought "plastic" paint that supposedly required no priming.. yeah right
covered the plastic my butt.. had to remove all and start over.
Just removed stickers, lightly sanded, primed, painted red. Then hand painted the lettering. Wet-sanded and cleared with poly. It seems like it will be fairly durable, it is hard to the touch. I doubt it would stand up to thousands and thousands of miles, but it will probably be ok for me. Sorry, probably boring but I AM bored..
Pics are a little rough in the pixel area, so it actually looks a little better in person. The red matches my high ram and some other stuff under the hood.

I've wondered about that new plastic paint as well. It probably sticks once in a few thousand applications, but that's good enough for advertising!
I second the vote, it looks good to me. Nice job!

Thanks.. I would recommend ol' primer and paint, some clear. Not for everyone, but just wanted to pass along what it looks like. I couldn't find a cheap alternative? I can't fork up $350+ for billet cover.. to much for what it does (nothing..)
