No tsb. Strictly a warranty thing.

Sorry to inform you but my 06, built in Feb of 06 has a plastic IC. My motor build date is Nov of 05 though. Weird.

*edit* I mean plastic sides and an aluminum core. This is what your talking about when you say plastic IC, right?

Well, I'm be darned... I guess Dodge hasn't learned there lesson. Maybe they feel it's cheaper in the long run to use the supply of plastic intercoolers (which are obviously cheaper) and just replace those under warranty that pop, instead of using the better aluminum ones (more expensive) to begin with. Darn those bean counters...

With the Bean Counters on warranty issues, they will replace the plastic units with another plastic unit if you don't watch them!

Plastic Intercooler

So, maybe we all need to whine at DC about all the 'mental stress' we're going through waiting for it crap out and we could throw in some 'mental anguish' caused by not knowing if the replacement will be more of the same or not.

All good points. I think we ought to start a thread to see how many guys have plastic intercoolers, and see what percentage of those have problems.

I just checked my truck. It was made in May of 2005 and has an intercooler made entirely of aluminum. The end caps are cast aluminum welded to the aluminum “radiator” section. Had the thing been plastic I’d a probably cried. Someone needs to put a beatdown on those bean-counters. You can't make everything out of plastic.

My 03 was aluminum and my 06 made 12-05 is aluminum also. I have 2 friends at work with 05's. One is an early 05 with plastic, the other is a late 05 with aluminum. I haven't personally seen a newer truck with the plastic inter coolers. Strange indeed.

I thought the plastic intercoolers were early 05 early....thats the way I have seen it on every truck i have been around.

I found a good solution to my plastic intercooler....

a member here that builds show trucks totally gave me his intercooler off of his 06. He pulled it to replace it with a fancy looking one!

I didn't even get to pay shipping....absolutely no cost to me!
