Pacbrake PRXB

I'd love to install one of these on my rig. I'm now hesitating because of this 2010 Ca smog check requirement bs. see below:

http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/p...0305_dca.shtml

Am I going to have to pull this off when it's time to smog? Will there be any traces left behind at the OBDII?

Exhaust brakes are offered as a dealer installed option...does NOT affect emissions.

I read the link.....what did I miss?

An exhaust brake is not an emissions device and will not affect the engines emissions performance or alter the existing emissions controls on your truck. What is the issue/problem?

Looks like a pretty basic install but you are plugging wires into the TIMP system on the 2006 and later models and.......bypassing the ECM??? Maybe I'm just being extra cautious. I hopefully attached the install below. Check it out and let me know if I'm getting excited over nothing.

You are getting excited over nothing.

You are not bypasing the ECM UNLESS you buy the ECM bypass kit....and even when bypassed, it simply means the EB is engaged manually. Which, again, has nothing to do with how the ECM runs the engine or any of the emissions compliances your truck meets.

Larry's got the best price.
I too was hesitent on installing mine at first. But take your time and do like they say. Since the install is for multi year trucks somethings will be differant then the pics. The only gripe I have is the wire harness for relays should be year specific as a 06 is differant wiring then 05-. So some wires are not long enough and others are way long. I did some slight changes on some things mostly hose routing. If you got a buddy to help it well worth some beer and steaks.

Quadman20, you got the contact info for Larry? (Or Lary, as I've seen) I've seen his name thrown around here on the boards. I'd like to pm him for a price on the C44045.
Interesting that you mention some beer and steaks...got a buddy that mentioned he'd help for a steak dinner and a couple beers!

It's a great unit, got mine from Lary as well, install is not a big deal (I did mine) and there's nothing wrong with the wiring harness.

I also got my PRXB from Lary. He had the best price around at the time. Install is remarkably simple. I had zero issues with the wiring on my 03 6spd.

One more question...If you get the standard tank and compressor, can you upgrade to a larger tank/compressor later? Might wanna run in impact gun when hauling the big 5ver around! It's got "China bombs" on there and I'm watch 'em like a hawk when on the road.
