I checked the Wiki and found the code.

P0148 High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) Fueling Error Checksum

What does this mean? Its a buddy's 06 4wd auto. Said he got on it and this code came up and now it runs like crap. I believe he has a triple dog dl on it, no crazy larry.

 

Did some searching. He just said that the fuel filter was dirty and he's changing it. Correct me if Im wrong, but I think between the dirty fuel filter and having his downloader turned up, that he just starved it for fuel. He reset the code and it hasnt popped back up yet. I think hes okay.

 

That is one fix for it - dirty filter could indicate a load of bad fuel - do a water-drain check into a clear bottle, see if the fuel is clear - BTW - you did suggest that he join DTR for info and future help, right?

 

Ya Ive told him a time or 2, even got him to come to a meet. He said the filter was dirty and that he had filled up at a couple of storage tanks at places he works (ranches) so that could be a source of bad fuel.
