Overhaulin the Front end.

Guys, I'm finally gettin around to doing some necessary and some preventative maintenance. Here's what I'm doing...is there anything else I should look at.
I'm replacing all my ball joints for the first time at 130k miles (210k km) at the same time I'm doing my Hub Ujoints. Replacing the bottom ball joints with MOOGs, Going stock on the tops and doing Spicer original ujoints. I was looking at having the front axle shafts lubed at the same time and maybe replacing those seals. Once everything is apart its always cheaper to getter all done. I've never replaced the hub/bearing assembly and am hoping they are ok. Once all is apart I'll have a better idea of how things are working. The ball joints still feel good, there are no knocks and it tracks straight as an arrow with no play but at my last alignment 20k miles ago the tech said they were at that time to start looking to get them done. The drivers ujoint is toasted. The other one is only 40k miles old. While I have some slower driving time I'm gonna getter done right for another 130k. ks

You don't have to lube the axle shafts, they're lubed by the diff. lube. Looks like your about drop at least a grand.....

Ramasaur, The Bottom ball joints were $260 and the uppers are the same. Ujoints were $100. Labour will be about $300. I'm having the pulleys laser aligned as I keep jumping the belt so one of my pulleys is out of whack. So yep $1000 bucks bites the dust but then I should be good for another 130k so I'm ok with that. I also have a tranny flush and fill with filter change scheduled that they will do if they have time. ks

End shafts need grease!!

Ramasaur, The inner shafts are oil bath from the differential but the outer shafts only have an o-ring on them and can get dirt in them and these can take out the splines...then its a new axle$$$. I'm having them pulled, checked, greased and reinstalled . The seals on the inner shafts are going to checked for leaks. ks
