Overboost Code

I know I could of posted this in the turbo thread that is 2 posts below this but I didn't want to hijack the guys thread.

Anyways, my question is about a overboost code that my truck just threw. I was passing a semi and had it at WOT, the RPM's where at 3200 for just a couple seconds and as I looked at the tac the CEL came on. I didn't get a chance to look at my boost gauge to see what it was reading. But i'm sure it was well over 32 psi. I had my BDTD set on Extreme so i'm guessing that level set it off. I pulled into the nearest gas station and ran the DTC option and cleared it, the CEL is still lite up though. Will that clear after 3 succesfull cranks? The programmer said it cleared it but I don't know how well.

So my main question is why did it throw an overboost code this time? I've ran it on Extreme at WOT a couple of times before with no issues. How can I prevent this from happening if I want to run it on Extreme(a bigger tubro isn't an option right now )

Also, what boost pressure kicks on the CEL?

If it helps I wrote the code that the programmer gave me. PO2340-Overboost

Thanks

I got the same code at around 40 lbs of boost. I have a jumper cable that came with my turbo that shoudl have taken care of the problem but did not.
I am running a high tech turbo. ht71

Nate the Quadzilla Boost Fooler should fix the problem and work great with your Triple Dog. I believe it will not allow the PCM to see more than 22 or 23 psi.

Nate

I was on the phone all day trying to figure out this overboost problem. High tech turbo is sending me a new resistor to try tomorrow. I will post the outcome of this. I also spoke to Quadzilla and bully dog today. Quadzilla has the boost fooler that plugs into your map sensor but after researching a little i found that this might fail if you are using a big after market turbo like i am. Also spoke to the guys from bully dog and they have seen the problem and fixed the problem by using a torque dog for a 03-04 truck. I am receiving a torque dog also tomorrow and will find out which one works and which one doesnt.

if you are using a stock turbo, and another brand of module, the quad fooler is just the ticket.

if you use a quad module, fooling is accomplished by the module.

if you are changing to another turbo, then you will need the bypass plug that goes to the sensor on the turbo.

Isn't the plug that goes on the sensor just a resistor?? That is what i have but no fooler module. I was told that the boost fooler has not worked with my mods. Please let me know if you are running mods on yours. I have a crazy larry with a high tech turbo HT71 ATS exhaust manifold ATS tranny ATS nozzles FAS 150 Airaid filter and ATS Arc flow intake manifold. I am adding an intercooler in the next day or so. I will also be adding a second CP3 pump from ATS.

i have a quad race, smarty, sps turbo, bd lift pump, intake, exhaust, etc, etc and no boost codes. i run the plug from industrial injection at the turbo harness, and the quad race takes care of any boost issues. i get no codes, surging, noise, driveability problems, nothing but gobs and gobs of smooth power and smoke until the turbo lights off.
