Question One more EGT question...?

I ran my truck with some load on it yesterday (very little 3klbs). And I tried to get the EGT up over 1100, since I have not been able to with no load. I could still not get the truck up over 1100. I floored it going up a steep hill leaving Temecula towards San Diego on the I15. I was in overdrive and the speed started dropping towards the top of the hill, and my EGT were dropping with the speed. I know I was lugging it since it was slowing down even though I was floored.

What do you guys think? Do I have a bad EGT gauge, or this normal? Should I wait till I get my 5th wheel hooked up and see if I can get the EGT a bit higher to test the gauge? Should EGT's not climb when lugging the engine? I should be getting my Xzillaraider today, maybe that will get me some hotter EGT. Could it also be that with the Cool Blue Hoses and 4" turbo back Aeroturbine it is almost impossible to over heat a stock truck?

Thanks for your imput.

Mine runs super cool with out the box on it too. With the box it still runs cool unless I do something stupid like floor it going up a hill while towing! The max I've seen while driving normally was around 1000-1100 while towing but if I mash it I can get about 1250 degrees. I did a couple of full throttle runs empty this weekend and I did not get above 1200 degrees and fuel pressure did not drop below 2 psi. I'm happy with that! Where did you mount your probe? That has a lot to do with how high your temps will get. The further back you go the hotter...... If you're after the turbo then your temps will register much lower than actual....

Thanks Dogzilla, that sounds like what mine is running at with out a load. My probe is pre-turbo just above it. So I guess my temps will register a bit lower than if I had put it higher up in the manifold.
