oil fither

i am about to do the second oil change on my truck

the dealer did the first one

i noticed that they used a fither that was smooth on the bottom like used on the 02 and back engines

without a strap wrench to get it off i just put my hands on it and it came off with very little effort

should i have been able to do this this easily

i am concerned it was never tight enough and could have put me in a bad situation

Mine has always been a pain to get off. I've changed my oil about 8 times I think.....

I always put 3/4 turn after the filter touches the oiled gasket (mark the bottom of the filter first to indicate how much it is turned). I can manage this by hand if I'm wearing rubber gloves. I've never been able to remove the filter without using a wrench.
